I work with a company that helps provide energy savings for farmers in Wisconsin. I am looking at the different types of compressors.

Are there different types of scroll compressors. (3-10hp)?
Are there screw compressors out there that are available for farmers?
Are there new high efficiency reciprocating compressors out there?

Thanks

I believe farmers can buy anything they want, don't they?

Turbocor compressors are the most efficient on the market.

Who are you working with? It sounds like this is for dairy farmers. I'm just curious...

Recommending the farmer spend several thousand dollars to gain a marginal increase in compressor efficiency is not worthwhile (in my opinion).

There are more ways to increase the energy savings than this.

Yes: different applications, some models with several generations with different efficiencies and protections, like Summit, Quantum, Glacier, Millenium, Performer, can’t remember if there are Specters in that range too.

Yes, but not for plowing!

1. Are there new high efficiency reciprocating compressors out there?

Hmmm, I don’t think so unless you are planning to go heavy on capacity control where a reciprocating could beat others but in overall performance I doubt it! It is cost effective though!
