Dear sir,

we have new installed compound refrigeration system with economier and intercooler and screw compressor
I want to know that when we should use compound system and also want to know that function of economiser and inercooler.

You are a bit short on details, if compounded with intercooler and economizer, there will be more than one screw compressor. Plus, can you enlighten all of us with your refrigeration experience, if any? It will prompt people to respond or not.

An economizer is simply a process for providing liquid refrigerant (colder than condensing temperature) to the expansion device. This helps to improve the compressor capacity with little increase in power input.

An intercooler simply desuperheats the discharge gas of a low stage (booster) compressor before the gas enters the high stage compressor. This increases the high stage compressor capacity and decreases the discharge temperature & oil cooling heat loads.

A two stage system is used when you have low temperature requirements and want to minimize the total power input required by the compressors.

How or where or when you use these depends on what you hope to achieve.
