Hi everyone,

I might have overlooked a similar thread to what I've started, but anyway what refrigerant should I use for a -60C room temp application? Apparently its for cold storage, I just don't have the other details right now.

Hope you could help me out on this one. Thanks!!

You might try a cascade system to R23. Ammonia or ***** on high stage. R23 has high pressures at ambient temperatures so a fade out vessel may be required to prevent system overpressure.

If you do a cascade system you might want to consider R-508b an azeotrope mixture of R-23 and R-116 because it is superior to just R-23. The compressor discharge temperature is lower then R-23 and that usually equates to longer compresor life and lubricant stability. The boiling point at 15psia is -125.5*F and the latent heat of vaporization at the boiling point is 73 btu/lb and it is nonflamable.
