Are you talking about a 'dummy' (artificial) load to test the system is capable of performing as per design?

There are probably more meanings for this one, but I have seen it used for a coil designed to generate hot gas for defrost in single evap systems.
The system I am thinking of used a coil in the evap condenser, fed by a TX valve, which was only used during defrost.
