Hi,
I have search for the net for info with not much luck.
I have a RZP100DV1 external unit which keeps setting L4 error code.
The unit has had several warranty repairs.
new compressor.
new compressor capacitor.
and two full sets of boards.
now it is hit the end of warranty its setting error L4 again.
has anyone ever had this try of problem.
Any help with this unit would be great.

Allan.

I am not sure, but i think that L4 could be overheating of power transistors in inverter PCB!
Reason could be in bad power supply as you already changed two full sets of boards (and if you checked working conditions and found that everything is OK and if you done compressor change properly).

hi,
All warranty work was carried out by dealer agents.
I just checked unit found lower fan starting before upper fan.
just changed wire plugs around.
I remember when system first install top fan always starter first.
me thinking top fan by power transister heat sink needs to start first.

If that fan somehow help in cooling of inverter power unit, then you solved cause of L4 error.
If not see at this diagram.

What are your outdoor conditions?
Does the unit have required clearances?

Hi,
So for so good three days with no problem.
note to self top fan must start first after repaires.

Thanks for the advice.

Mmm,
They did have a batch of these with the fan leads crossed. I've done that fix on a few units myself.

BUT...
I've also been out to these units with L4 errors on them after other engineers "looked" at the PCBs. The heat-sink is separate from the PCB, by lifting the board you will loose the thermal conductivity provided by paste applied in the factory.
The only way to sort this is by applying new heat transfer paste (don't worry, this paste is only pennies from any reputable electronics shop, like RS).
BTW, the paste have to be reapplied every time the heat-sink is removed from the PCB.
