The link below provides a table relating to Daikins future refrigerant technologies.
http://www.daikin.com/environment/info/influence_03.html
Click - Types and properties of future refrigerants.(table) half way down the page.

Ammonia (NH3) is stated as having a therotical COP (Relative to R22) of 107.

What does this figure of 107 represent ?
And in terms of energy output/input what is the ratio ?
For example many domestic heat pump manufacturers state cop's as high as 5-1. (NIBE Fighter)
Many thanks.

It is probably a percentage. I did a quick calculation of the theoretical COP of both 22 and NH3 @ 0C evaporating, 45C condensing, 100% isentropic efficient compressors and I got:

NH3 COP = 5.05
R22 COP = 4.77

so in this case, the NH3 COP was 106% that of R22

Many Thanks. Very Helpful.
Have just discovered the Heap Pump sub Forum also and finding it very informative.
