Is it common practice to place insulation on all pipework, Discharge and Suction when working with Heat pumps? this being necessary when the cycle is reversed for Heating mode?

OK,

What type of heatpump are we talking about now then?

Air to air, split type?
Air to water?
Water to water?

Or anything else?

In which case the lines we are talking about is the interconnecting pipework?

And yes, both those pipes needs lagging.
