Hi there
having trouble with a heatpump/Ac that was working great all of the winter but now when i tested the ac it didnt work at all either in heatmode or in Ac mode.
the machine just goes on and on in every three minutes or so it defrosts but when defrost is done and its usually blows heat only a burst of heat comes out.
i suspect the 4way valve is not working properly.

can someone explain what the funktion of the valve
is?
i have tried tapping the 4way valve with a screwdriver.
i have disconected the wire to the 4way valve and it clicks when i do that.
i have measured the inside unit tempsensor and it changes value when i touch it with my finger.

and before when it worked ok it drew 6amp from the power outlet but now i when i measured it only drew
2.5 amp from the power outlet.?????????
we have 220volt here in sweden.

thanks in advance!

You need to hook up pressure gauges and measure temperatures on certain places of unit. Do you have tools for that and knowledge what is what in AC unit.

4-way valve is there to change flow of gas and if it does not work properly you could experience problems as you described above.

hello

thanks for the reply.
yes i have pressure gauges
but they are made for car(R134) .
the conections dont match.

can the 4 way valve get stuck in some mid way position? since the darn thing either cool or make heat?

Yes it could, but that is guessing. We need measuring to confirm that guess.

hello
readings: 75psi low side
75 psi high side.

machine running:
120 psi low side.
125 psi high side.

manually tripped 4 way valve:
low side out of graduation.

150 psi high side.

why higher when i messed with the 4 way electric wire
back and forth.

Hi, low side will go high when in heating mode because the gas has changed direction.
