Also known as in-line fans?

If so, then it's a fan that is fitted in ductwork.

To move clean air in circular ducts!

It can be used either to supply or extract air whenever you don't need to treat it in any way (ie. heat or cool it).

But filters and electric heaters are commonly added in the surrounding ductwork.

Basically, it's a cheap way of moving air around.

[You can also find square or rectangular inline fans but they are not as common]

We have cases where we have used booster fans in ducts to increase the static pressure.

Can they be called as inline fans?

In line fans are available both in circular and square casings. These are put in the air duct so as to have a better supply where required. These fans can also increase the Static Pressure. In India, Kruger as well as Nadi has these fans. All the major fan manucaturers are also making these in line fans.

For further details you may visit one of Fand manufacturers site.
