Hi everyone!
If we open a catalog of ME, for M-series inverter models range of outdoor temps is from -10 to +43C. Does it mean that out of these range the units will "refuse" to run?
In other words, is the ambient temp. probe intended for programmed low/high ambient protection?

P.S. ME is mentioned for example only. Information about other manufacture features is welcome:).

It's all in the small print.

Most units will continue to run outside the ambient envelope but the efficiency and capacity will be reduced.
Others will shut down.

Split systems & VRF systems.
It all depends on the manufacturer.
Some small resedential domestic split systems will not operate in cooling below a set outside ambient temperature pre set by the manufacturer.
However in most cases the systems will continue to operate outside the minimum & maximum operating conditions specified by the manufacturer but with poor performance & a negative impact on reliabilty.
If the system has a failure within the warrantee period then the manufacturer can send an engineer to site to make an investigation & guess what???
If they find it operating outside specified min/max operating limits then you have to be a very special VIP customer to get warrantee assistance.

BTW do not forget the Min wet bulb temperature limit for indoor unit operation.
