Why do you want to know what horsepower it is?

Regardless of the horsepower, it's actual refrigerating capacity will be different according to the application.

Do you want to know what the refrigerating capacity of the compressor is at, say 20F evaporating temperature?

Yeah, I want to know how many Watt's of load can this compressor take in VERY low temps... and if this compressor is capable of that. :P

I want about - 40c w 100wload. possible?
Or, build a unid w 2 evapos. one capable of -20c w 80w of load and the other evapo -25/-30c w 120w of load.

Well, i cannot find any spec's on Calex (at least in English, anyway). You need to find the capacity rating of the compressor somehow. Either on the web, or even contact the manufacturers support department, or a wholesale supply house that sells Calex.

Ideally you would want the R-12 compressor to be at about 250W to 300W capacity at a -20F evaporating temperature.

If it's in that range, then apply R-404a to get your -58 to -60 evaporating temperature.

Okay, now everyone is going to fuss about the R-404A with the mineral oil, but the lubricant only has a very, very short path in and out of the compressor, it will come back. But if you're concerned about it, you could use R-408A, or perhaps this would be a good scenario for 507A? Is it mineral oil miscible?

see ya'

compressor is 1/4HP..and it been used w R409a.

Well.. Im going to use r22 in it :)
I dont need to change the oil, and I get good temps :) hoppefully :)

I wont damage the compressor by running long periods of time w R22..?

Im going to try to do a unid w 2 evapos. one capable of -20c w 80w (vid card) and the other evapo -25/-30c w 120w of load (CPU)
I know its not the Xtreme temps everyone is trying..but for me.. will do fine... Im not THAT Xtreme. :P Just want my computer cold and fast :)

The only doubt about this compressor is the quality.. well, I payed about 30Euros for it.. NEW.

That's why I dont know if its a good and capable compressor.
