A copy?

The service checker comes in 2 parts, 1 hardware interface (to go between your computer/laptop and the system) and the software to go with it.

Both Daikin (direct) and Space will be more than happy to supply it to you.

Daikin said these can only be used for VRV's but in a few posts, i have read that these can be used on splits with an optional cable that plugs directly onto the PCB. Is this true?

Hell yeah its true,. I have a service checker with the latest software and its true you need the cables to connect to the kit but it will do most daikin systems..

Is it worth the £1200 though?

Well i didnt pay for it,. I guess if you had one and didnt no how to read it or never used it then its a waste of money, but if you use it and it helps AND you can read it then its priceless.
I prob use mine ones a month and it really helps when working on vrvs.
