What about Isceon 29 or maybe Isceon 59. It would be worth talking to the manuifacturer's. Isceon 29 is a tweaked version of 29 especially for R22 dx water chillers. I would imagine it would be fine in a flooded evaporator system.

Isceo 29 is not suitable (temperature glide problems). A pure refrigerant will only be suitable.

any other ideas ?

l have looked at most of the r22 drop ins but as mentioned before they have a glide and this isn't good with a flooded evap so l would also be interested if anyone knows of a R22 drop in alternative, as we are looking at converting a centrif on R22.

I am sure you have begun to realise like many of us.
There as yet is not a straight "drop in" for R22.
On some systems the way the oil is recovered is the major stumbling block.
The difference being NO-ONE this time is claiming there is! Remember the fiasco with R12. (ask any of the transport guys),
The scary thing is there is still lots and lits of R22 Systems out there, and logically there will be for a long time.

Suggest you speak to DuPont or IDS flooded systems have been succesfully converted to ISCEON MO29, as well as LPRs.

If you're dealing with a centrifugal chiller, you could re tool the machine to work with R134a. You could also check into refrigerant R245fa. It's a newer HFC. Some 400 series blends will work ok as long as the system has a reliable oil seperator.
