Another question for you high tech guys.

I deliver Toshib AC/heat pumps. I talked with a service tecnician at the importer today regarding a problem with a RAS 13 SAVP/SKVP-ND.

He said that the compressor and outdor unit PCB board was identical on the RAS 10 and RAS 13. The heat exhanger and pipes look like they are identical. 4-way valve is identical. Indor fan motor is identical. Indor housing is identical. I think indor heat exhanger is identical. But the indor PCB is NOT identical acording to the service tecnician

Is it possible that the only difference betveen RAS 10 and RAS 13 is the software in the indor PCB forcing the RAS 10 outdor compressor and the indor fan motor to run at a lower RPM to produce lower capacity?

If so, a RAS 13 indor unit and a RAS 10 outdor unit would have the same capacity as the originat RAS 13 kit. But at a lower price tag. http://www.refrigeration-engineer.com/forums/images/icons/icon6.gif

Yes, but you need to change jumper wires in outdoor unit to match indoor unit. And you also could match indoor RAS16 and outdoor RAS10.

Amazing!!

I had a feeling that 10 and 13 was the same when i talked with that service technician today, but if he knew, he didnt admit it. They charge 15% more for the 13 compared to the 10, and that is hardt to explain when they are identical. And another 15% more for the 16. The jumper position, is that to tell the outdor PCB if it is, errr should act as, a 10, 13 or 16 unit?

This is of course heat pumps version.

I guess i have to download that manual sooner then later.

The next task to solve is to get the RAS 10 inndorunit to think it is a size 13 or 16 inndorunit. I guess the only difference is the software in it. Have to get the programmer and software then.

I'm active in the transport refrigeration business as well in the comersial refrigeration business. I am trading Toshibas, have sold 20 something this winter. Also serving CTC and TK transport refrigerating as well as AC, supermarked and some other business. I am however a small guy in this business so the volume is not that large. But it is enough for me to make a good living. :)
