Please remember these are based on conventional practice in the oil & gas industries, but the physics apply to refrigeration also. It is also important to recognize the use of refrigerant or refrigerant and oil may require adjustment of the parameters to meet any requirements you may have.

If you use the above you should proceed with caution if you have not designed separators before.;)

very resourceful ...

i feel the basic of such vessel should consider the below few points.

1] sudden surge of liquid returning to the vessel;
2] required vaporation rate;
3] prevent liquid being trasnfer into suction piping
4] other safety issues

hope it helps.

Hello US Iceman,

As you know, I am investigating pump refrigeration systems. Link http://igs.nigc.ir/igs/BANK-MATN/IPS/e-pr-880.pdf does not work - could you possibly send me this paper?

Thank you in advance.

Jacek

My experience with separators designed by oil and gas folks is that they are not well suited to a refrigeration compressor suction. They tend to accept up to 1% liquid droplet carry over and allow for higher pressure drops.

So be very careful using this data.
