I propose that moderators find some good server and his mirrors and make some kind of organized archive of great documents which we members post here. Then members could access that archive from this site and download and upload their documents. Some kind of library only for active members. It could be supported by on subject advertising.

Hi, Nike123 :)

....very good suggestion, but what when someone upload something not legal....it can be dangerous.....just thinking out loud...

server is not a problem...I believe.....

Best regards, Josip :)

Illegal stuff then shouldn't be in archive, or we could ask their author to give promise to be there for members only. Maybe, with advertisement, some authors accept this.
I don't know, i just throwing ideas on floor.:)

I think there was some sort of section made up a while back but it fell on it's nose. (I think)

There is nothing to stop members opening a thread somewhere and posting their uploaded links with a description along side it.

Upload .rar .zip .pdf files to Rapidshare or Megaupload or whereever.
In saying that, most if not all items will be copyrighted so be careful.

It's a good idea however, with the above mentioned worries about copyright etc do the members now want the moderators to police the archive or will they do it themselves and report any shortcomings.

Like all of these things they are a great idea but all need unpaid support. ;)

Hi Brian
Yes us members would like moderators to police it otherwise we would be dissorganised and put crap on it. A library would be very helpful - imagine a library of manuals. I'm also sure the OEMs would help to provide the data.

Perhaps it is an opppurtunity for a new moderator ;)
Im sure there is some one with the time/ ethics/ organisational skills on the forum.

An online library is a damned fine idea:D

It is not original, i found it on other forum "hvacprotech".
How they coping with copyright issues and organization could be guidance here. I don't know about that anything, but I am sure that we could contact them and find out.

The problem with copyright is that how do you know what is covered. If i scan a fault list off a manual then could i be breaking copyright, however if i was to sit here and type it out would i then. The information that would go on here would hardly be classed as sensitive, fault codes are in the public domain however i am not sure how we would stand on passwords, OK on basic Carel/eliwell/lae controllers but not on my complicated systems perhaps.

Anyway, you know where i am if i can help by typing stuff out, i am usually on line

A good way to get around copyrighting is to only post links to the original article.

Further more I think one should compile the various views into a format, which gives a correct answer to the basic querries. If you refer to few posts, wherein USice man has posted various replies, but if those are comiled together, it shall be a very good set of articles.
