Cant see Tesco or Asda getting it. Monopolies and Mergers already looking at them getting to big.

Possibly up for a management buy out. They have made mistakes in the past upgrading Kwik-saves to Sommerfields and lost a lot of customers.

The group is way to big to be bought out lock stock and barrell. Shame really, i like the sommerfield work

I also liked working in Somerfield, staff always friendly.
Equipment not too bad although there were a few nasty hot gas packs. Mainly Arctic circles which are a piece of cake.

That was until RDM took over!
Which are also OK to work on although probably more over designed than they should be.

I do agree that ELM were good to work on apart from the feedback from a dodgy board that takes out other boards.

A few sites are still operating on the Elm Case and Pack controllers etc, but the front end has been changed to RDM.

Hi Bernard

I was in one of my stores today and the conversation came up.The manager told me that whoever was going to buy them has decided not to.She never told me who they were though, but she did say that if this company bought them she would have been out of a job:confused:.

i heard it was the co-op that were going for them all with a bid of 1.7 bil but owners wouldnt sell unless it was between 2-2.5 strong word that wal-mart was behind it and were going to take the larger stores.it was reported in the ft that it would of been a done deal by last week,as all the refits have been shelved

Hi all,

Just started with cold services this week, in the essex area. Not been on the pack side of things for years, went to small fridge.

Co-op just bought it today!!, with the somerfield contract up for grabs and the news (my local store) that they will be shutting some of them down to avoid conflict, it could be interesting to see who gets shuffled over to who......
