Dear RE members,

While conducting performance test of watercooled DX screw chiller in factory I have following observations.

Charged less than spec.( R& D)
Capacity is less by 3%
Discharge/suction pr. as per design
subcooling 5 deg C
Suction superheat is @ 3 deg C.
Discharge superheat 27 deg C.

I need to know do I have to charge additional gas or not?
Since suction superheat is low if I open TXV my capacity will be dropped.

Pl. suggest solution.

Thanks in advance.

Hi refystem, if you check the discharge pressure you can determinate if your system have the correct referigerant chargecould you send me the suction pressure and the discharge pressure

hello,

if not enough gas yes u need to charge, but make sure that you must have enough load ( for heat transfer ) what kind of refrigerant you used, is the system have level gauge or refrigerant sight glass

for screw compressor mostly the design base is 10~20degc suct superheat at full load
