Not in refrigeration I hope!
Because if you don't understand F Gas regs you should not be working with refrigerants.
If you are a Engineer from another discipline?
Just search F Gas Regs and all will be revealed.
By the way it has been Illegal to work on Refrigerants without a Safe Handling Certificate since June 07.

I have been working in this trade for 8 years and although I carry a refrigerant handling cert I have never been asked to produce it by customers or suppliers.

You may not have been asked in the past but you sure will be in future.
And your qualification will be outdated in the near future.

I don't think we know for sure yet? I have heard that we will need a brazing ticket as well as others but there are a lot of rumours at the moment and it depends on who you talk to.
One of the members here who is a training provider is off to a meeting on friday,i think, to discuss this issue. No doubt he will let us know what we need to do.

ALL those involved with refrigerants, whether breaking into systems or just leak testing will need to be assessed under the F-Gas regulations.

According to informed opinion, the length of time required to get through the assessment will depend on the experience and knowledge of the individual but could last anything from half-a-day to five days. It will include a range of observed practical assessments and a multiple choice examination which will test the underpinning principles.

Assessment centres are unlikely to be up and running before at least July.

Hi guys,

In a lot of ways we normally do not like our goverments.
In this case of F-gas regulations i love them.

In the netherlands we have to be certified from 1997 already.
This was the local rule here.
To get the certificate we had to do theoretical and practical exame on refrigeration.
No we just have to show our certificate and it will be changed into the european one so we have no hassle.

And customers had to do leak test from 1,4 or 12 times a year in the past. from now on it's just 1,2 or 4 times a year depending on volume.

So you can say that for the netherlands it became easier.
