Hi there,

We have a Beko cda543fw purchased just over a year ago, it has stopped working with no damage or abuse, it makes a clicking noise underneath periodically, I'm not sure if anyone has any suggestions... I have electronic and engineering skills but little knowledge of fridges.

Is there a common problem with this unit?

We are in Bermondsey South London.

Thanks in advance.

Clicking noise sounds like external overload operating.
Compressors have a bi-metal overload fitted to the terminal block that clicks open circuit if the current is too high.
Could be a faulty capacitor if it has one, or faulty start relay, or faulty compressor.
First step if you know electrical is to put a clamp meter on it, verify high amp (ie higher than 3a when it's trying to start). If it's not high amps, then the overload it self is faulty.
If it is drawing 5+ amps, then check the uF of the capacitor if fitted, then check the relay. If all good, then compressor is seized/shorted.
Maybe a fridgey in your area has an "annie" to test further. If not, you need a new compressor fitted.

Thanks for your replies, very much appreciated, looked behind the fridge today and found an apron wrapped around the condenser!
still doesn't work so will start the thorough testing

Thanks again,
