What is the acceptable pressure drop across the filter dryer?
Thanks GOOSE2

Filter-driers used in the liquid line should not always be sized on pressure drop alone. For example, refrigeration systems which invariably contain more refrigerant that similar capacity a/c units should use larger filter-driers. Yours truly along with other filter-drier manufacturers provide sizing charts and software for this purpose. That said, sizing a liquid line filter drier at less than 1 psi is fine for a/c applications.

If a filter-drier is desired of permanent use in the suction line, it should be sized at less than the pressure equivalent of 2°F. And one might state that one should only use a filter-drier in the suction line for temporary cleanup only, which the Prof would not argue with, and only permanently use a suction filter. If a filter-drier is used in the suction line for cleanup only, then sizing it up to the pressure equivalent of 5°F could be done.
