Fowlie.
Hi if as I suspect your are way ahead of me when dealing with these controllers. Please ignore the link attached below.
This will open on a search page.
under type select MANUAL
under range select IR33
chose your required pdf. from the list.
Incidently the search page covers a huge range of Carel Product.

Hi

We have a lot of these controllers and as of yet no problems,I much prefer the RDM mk2 which is more user friendly.

I have a Carel IR33 that wont read the correct temperatures, have looked in the manual thinking that it was set on deg F but it is not, I reckon it is reading about 30 deg C high if not more. We have not shortened the probe cables or anything like that but am at a bit of a loss with it. I have even tried a different controller and it still reads wrong everything points to the probes but they are definately Carel ones.
Anybody got any ideas?

Is this a new unit install Pooh or an old one that has 'gone off' ?

If it reads wrong with a different controller then it would suggest that the probe itself is at fault.

Have you tried the 'faulty' controller on the other probes? If it shows your expected temps then that would also point at the probes being at fault.

Pooh.
Follow the link below and open Technical Bullitin no 15.
It has a section on how to test probes of all sorts
There is also a section on how to test ouputs ect from controllers.
There is enough there to confirm where the problem lies.

Just like to add that with some controlers you can set the display to read higher or lower to allow for long cable runs to the probes, but as you have tryed a different controller in prohably isnt this. Also some are selectable for NTC and PTC probes.

Hate the things, i usually spend five minutes trying to read the manual before realising i'm on the foriegn page:o Then when you do get it, its gone back to displaying the temperature:mad:

I use Dixell controllers I have set hunderds and i dont know why the factories construct the same system to set up the controller , they need just an exta button for menu and dont change screen until you clik on it again..

Am I right in thinking you are describing the "offset".
I believe that is also covered in the bullitin 15
Cheers Grizzly

Yeah, offset sounds about right. I'm not that good with these style of controlers as i only work on them a few times a year, hence the trouble with the destructions:o
