i am in China and i work in a small car airconditioning company. in some papers it is said that the CO2 airconditioning system is already in use in european cars like BMW and BENZ.is it real ?but i have never seen that kind of system in real car.As far as i konw, now all new cars manufactured in China are equiped with R134a system (if have)
Can you tell me something about the CO2 system for cars you know?

Well, the last I heard of it was that BMW had to postpone it... they would have liked to install it in their new 3-series, but got delayed for some reason.

Disclaimer; Just heard it at a course I was atending reacently (sp), so dont know how high it scores on the "credibility scale" :p

Nie Hao, Mr Liu Jun Wei

Following on from Spiffinator, I would add that to my knowledge, there's been NO full release yet of mass market Co2 closed loop system for auto a/c.
Take a look under the Denso and Zexel/Tama sites as those 2 firms are right on top of research and would be the suppliers of prototypes to BMW & Benz et al.

I expect compressor life is still one of the major hurdles. I imagine coils, tubing and hose kits are worked out as would be the control.:)

Just a quick question, they have ruled out hydrocarbon refrigerants on car AC due to the possibility of a leak into the passenger cabin and an explosion, what about a leak on a CO2 system into the cabin and its anaesthetic properties. I presume the quantity of CO2 will be similar to R134a so if that got into a closed vehicle what would be the effect on the passengers.
