I've decided to put a bit of a/c in the house and the wife fancies an Artcool. Our firm only fit Mitsy or Daikin so this was my obvious choice. I've no experience of the LG and I don't want to fit an egg! Any horror stories out there?

I will never buy another LG product. I bought a dvd recorder which had corrupt software, replaced with the same machine with the same problem, then the warrenty was out. So I'm out of pocket A$700. Shame on LG

Have fun if you are going to reverse pipe it.(Pipes coming in from left hand side with flare nuts behind the unit.)They never seem to clip back against the wall properly without a struggle.

Had a problem with the front panel louvre motors once on the art cool high wall split. If the plugs for the motors are plugged in they sometimes dont make proper contact with the pins and the front panel will move, but only one way.You have to make sure that they are pushed in hard for it to operate normally. Problem is that when you remove the front cover for service the wiring harnesses for the motors get pulled sometimes and even though they are connected properly they are not making proper contact and hence this problem occurs.

When you finish your job and put the cover back on you are left wondering why the front louvre panel opens but doesn't shut now.

Much as I dislike LG I fitted a fixed speed Artcool Mirror in my livingroom about four years ago and it has operated faultlessly...But it is about the only one that hasn't given me a headache. Mitsy Tosh Daikin...You know they make sense.

Looks like it's down to me then. I have got two Hi wall mirror's in my house. I didn't actually opt for them, they were in when I bought it. To be fair they haven't had a lot of use, but have now been in for 27 months and no problems.
A client has asked me to supply a couple of the picture frame type - should I put them off ?

I have 4 of these in my house which I installed, as temprite said they are a real pain if your pipe runs are coming from the left well to be fair that’s not the problem the problem is the condensate pipe if your pipes are running from the left then if you can change the condensate pipe over to the left hand side as this will allow more room behind for clipping back, I actually broke one of the clips on one of mine but there is as easy get around for this and works well on the 2.5/3.5kw models. Maybe I should post a picture of the fix.

Have you seen the Samsung ones with mirror fronts they in my opinion look better than the lg ones, the louvers on the lg are not very changeable position wise

i think FM are doing a good deal on the lg mirrors at the moment complete with copper pump lagging isolator etc etc.

I have seen so many people on this site condeming LG and saying it is S***t, but in all honesty we have installed quite a few over the last few years and the problems we have had have been minimal, and no more tha any other manufacturer, i have to conclude that if installed correctly with good practises they will be ok.

As you all know i am not a lover of LG and would not fit them on a customers site.

As always the wife decided we needed to install a/c in 3 of our bedrooms(waste of time no summer) and liked the gallery units, we argued for weeks about LG but in the end i said OK if they **** up don't come running to me.

I am sad to say the god damn things work perfectly on heating and cooling and the sleep function is brilliant, i have now shut down our central heating system in 3 bedrooms and so far all ok.

I hate to say it but LG for the domestic market ain't bad but i still wouldn't install them on a customers site.

Kind regards
Lrac

P.S the pictures supplied with the Gallery units are crap and you need to change the pictures asap.

It is a domestic unit and if you are lucky it will only have the usual small problems, such as the inlet panel not closing fully when switching off, various plastic catches breaking.

Buy a Daikin FTXG, it is a really nice and quiet machine!

Ok a few years on now since this post was updated...so........

Since then I have an LCD that does not display correctly on one machine. not fixed it yet.
I have had and new board and louver motors in another (board was because fan speed was hunting badly) and now after a power cut I have had another one go down. The unit was not operating at the time of the power cut but now just beeps at me when power is restored and does not power on.

So all in all 3 out of my 4 lg artcool mirror units have broke aver the last 4 years.

Need I say more?

However I would say that thermofrost's technical assistant is fantastic, peter I think his name is. Very nice chap.

would i go for lg again..........no

C.

just to add the the unit gone down after the power cut is the relay on the indoor board (keeps trying to switch on and beeps everytime it does this) , cannot find the relay anywhere on the net so may have to buy a new board

i'm havin an issue with an LG Multi V Sync 11. The system has 19 indoors and the outdoor decides when it wants to work in heat mode! When heating is selected PREHEAT appears on controller, normal, then OUTDOOR appears, normal, then preheat disappears and so does outdoor. at no stage will the indoor fans or the outdoor unit run. Any suggestions??

My thoughts on the Artcools so far seem to be a reasonable machine. Have only seen one failure in the last five years here since I started installing them. This one had the slammer arse rusted out? for whatever reason??
Generally speaking earlier fixed speed LG & rebadged ones were ****e & are the largest make I replace on a regular basis.
LG's parts support in Aus is shocking for relatively new machines & is very frustrating @ times for us repairers trying to make a quid.

Cheers
